Welcome to race 5 and the mid point of our season. This weeks event will be held at one of the most iconic tracks in motorsports, The Brickyard. This will be a standard race, 50 laps, sim damage, one pit. We will return to our standard build cars, PI R2 808. Qualifying begins at 9:30 pm est.
Race notes:
Indy is unique in that it actually has four distinct turns, with a short straight, or "chute" between them. Each turn is slightly different in regards to camber and radius. The track is also ringed by "sticky grass" all the way around, which extends nearly to the edge of the track. Get two wheels off track here, and you will lose significant speed. Lap times should fall in the mid 45's to 48 sec range. The pit entrance is on the left of the front straight after the exit of turn four, and is fairly easy to navigate. The exit is about midway through the chute between turns one and two. You will again be re-entering the race in the racing line, so communication and awareness by all drivers is appreciated. So far all drivers have done an excellent job of this, and no incidents have resulted from pit stops. Having raced here in another series, I found a rather odd "glitch" involving pits here. Th AI does some weird shifting going around the turn exiting the pits and will actually cause tranny damage. If you are using manual with clutch, I suggest holding the clutch in until the car is returned to your control to avoid this.
Questions, concerns, comments, feel free to post here.
Good luck everyone!

Thanks for the tip. Might not use the clutch on this track.

Man - Turd 10 really made this track unrealistic for the grass.. Not even a half of your front tire is in the grass and you're slowed down by 30+ mph... really?
Overall, hope this race turns out well for everyone. Try not to hug the wall!

Yeah, also, when you are exiting the pits, if you don't get over the white line and onto the track you will spin out as well.

There are some points in the turns that you really have to just let go of your gas pedal either to make the turn, otherwise you're just into the f'in wall. I had a tune for R3 that I was able to just keep on the gas pedal the whole time, but I think that it was because I had the aero system to more in the corner than speed. On this track, you need a bit of both!!! lol

Congratulations to EZT Uncabunca for taking tonight's win at Indianapolis Motor Speedway!
It was a good race tonight, however it was unfortunate for a couple of people. This track is just over-exaggerated in the grasslines, which has slowed people down by about half of their speed by barely touching the grassline. However, a good number of people showed up which was a plus, but we have missed Turtle and DBF2KILLER tonight. Hopefully next week will be better!
