I realized the other day that although I had run multiple 50 lap events in FM3, I never tried to do the maximum 4 hour race timer. I'm going to give this a try on Sunday, October 9th. Anyone else interested in testing themselves are welcome to join my lobby. I've included some details below if you're going to race:

When: Sunday, October 9th 12:00 PM EDT
Where: Nurburgring Grand Prix (DLC)
What: S Class RWD (there will be some AI on the track as well)
Why: Because I'm crazy

I'll have the damage set to simulation, so be prepared for the possibility of driving for hours only to have your race ended by a wall or careless pass.

You should also be prepared for the possibility of being stuck in a party with someone who annoys you for 4 hours straight. I will be running this event even if nobody shows up, since it's for my own edification, but let me know here if you're interested so I can keep a look-out for who to bring in from my friend's list.

As much as I'm intrigued by this, I don't know what my plans are for Sunday yet. If it turns out that I'm available, I may jump in on this.

That's the whole point thought. Even I don't know if I can do 4 hours. Cramped hands. Dry mouth. Stiff legs. Blurry vision. These are all the great things you can look forward to.

Hmmm 4 hours? WANT! But I promised I'd take my girlfriend out to the movies on Sunday afternoon..

What time would that work out for the UK? If its in the evening, there might be a chance for me to be there Smile

It's the same time as the previous 80s series was being run. I honestly can't recall the UK time, and I just assumed nobody was going to post.

4 hours? Truly a masochistic mind at work here. I'll be at a Christening on Sunday and not sure if I'll be back for five but if I'm on, I'm in. Guaranteed to be a bit squiffy though, so I expect quite a few corned. (corned? I meant PIT stops drunken )

Although it was a pretty insane attempt, I managed to complete my 4 hour odyssey at the Nurburgring Grand Prix this weekend. Here are some things I learned:

1. Don't try to untangle your headset cord in the first complex of turns. I had a spin-out early on because of this and miraculously missed the walls completely.
2. Don't try to pass the AI cars after the first turn. They take a weird line entering the second turn, and will take revenge at that moment.
3. Bobbo will literally scream at human lap cars to get out of the way... unless he's the one being lapped... twice.
4. Getting 50% aero damage on all sides due will cost you about 80,000 credits on the Jaguar XJ220.
5. In 4 hours I can drive 391 miles on Nurburgring GP, or 122 laps!
6. I have to shift 28 times per lap, which is about 3,416 shifts in 4 hours.
7. After 4 hours of driving, even an Australian/Irish accent is funny.
8. No, I mean really funny. Almost anything would be funny at that moment, including a sack of dead puppies.
