So I've just returned from the 2011 Oulton Park Gold Cup, which for those of you who don't know, Is a whole big weekend full of classic car racing goodness. This has got me thinking about a good way for us to bid farewell to FM3 and issue in a new era in the Forza Motorsport society. Basically, what I'm suggesting is that we do 3 races, in one night, on one circuit. Results will be pretty much MSM all over, as many lobbies as are needed and results based on the combined overall distance you achieve on each race of the night.
I've yet to decide what kind of racing we would do or what circuit, but for now I'll just throw Road Atlanta on this thread as an example. All these idea's share some relation to real events at the Oulton Park Gold Cup but for obvious reasons, aren't identical. I would like some opinion as to whether people are interested and if so, what races/track would be run.
Guards Trophy
Cars such as the De Tomaso Pantera, Lamborghini Muira, Ferrari Dino and the sort, tuned to class B. Race lasts 20 minutes of the chosen circuit and there are no pitstops.
Woodgate Trophy
Pretty much any car from pre-1975 excluding a minority, tuned to B class. Race lasts 25 minutes of the chosen circuit and there are no pitstops.
E-Type 50th Anniversary Challenge
Exactly what it says on the tin. E-type Jags tuned to C class. Race lasts 20 minutes of the chosen circuit and there are no pitstops.
Historic Road Sports Trophy
Entry list includes any car to have taken part in this series in real life, off the top of my head I can think of at least 4 cars such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint and the BMW 2002, which will be tuned to C class. Race lasts 25 minutes of the chosen circuit and there are no pitstops.
Porsche Le Mans Martini Trophy
Due to a distinct lack of pre-90's R1 Le mans racers in Forza, this leaves but one car, the Porsche AG 962c. Then again, what a car! Race lasts 25 minutes of the chosen circuit and there are no pitstops.
Stirling Moss Trophy
The Grand daddy of them all. If the Gold Cup idea proves to be successful than this race is the jewel in the crown so to speak, the natural successor to Old Oulton Park Gold Cup race. The cars are as follows, Jaguar D-Type, Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, Ford GT40 mkII and the Ferrari 330 P4, tuned to S700. Races last 45 minutes with pitstops required between 15 and 35 minutes.
This is just a brief idea for now, I'm welcome to suggestions. Entry lists and classes as well as the circuit would need to be finalized but only one night would need to be clear. This was originally going to be an MSM only event but I thought I'd open it up, cause I'm a nice ducky, I'll probably run 2 lobbies, a US and EU one depending on who display interest.
